To kick off our opening of HUGO on Friday (and with apologies to whatever customer I unwittingly told that it is an animated film….) we will feature the ever-talented Mr. Bob Moore with an original score to the twelve minute silent film that inspired Brian Selznick to write the book that good old Marty Scorsese ran with. A TRIP TO THE MOON with accompanying live music will run after the 7:00 screenings of HUGO on January 20th and 21st. Hugo will run for at least a week.
I die a little inside every time I have to tell a customer we don’t serve pizza yet (next month, I swear!) but we got one step closer by installing our ginormous oven this week. It needs a little work yet but I am eagerly awaiting the day that we will pull our first pizza out of this bad boy. And I just learned you can crack an egg on top of a pizza and cook it that way. Whaaaaaa?
Don’t worry, I didn’t drive this thing. Tim used it to lift the oven to put the legs on it. I didn’t even know he could operate a forklift! The things you learn about your partner when you build a movie theatre together….

I am so eager to come see Hugo this Friday. I appreciate the fact you all are reinventing the Theatre.
Way to go, y’all! Very glad to see the theatre is being well-cared for. I’m a Jax native, and love seeing our local amentities restored and given a new lease on life. I always enjoyed the old theatre and the quirky, bohemian nature of it before the renovation. But, I’m excited to see the next phase of it’s personality!
And YES, get that pizza oven warmed up!

I loved the Bob Moore performance after the screening of Hugo…almost as much as I love that picture of you in the forklift! What a badass.
