Languorous Floridian swamp enchantment.-Patrick Keck
A weird, oddly beautiful, horror-adjacent folktale straight out of the Florida woods, The Enchanted haunts you with its lyrical, poetic imagery and atmosphere and its leisurely pacing, even as some of its choices frustrate the eventual reveal of its mysteries. The acting can be rough from some of the unknown actors, but it feels intentional, befitting its otherworldly secrets. The electronic score is pitch-perfect in an indelibly '80s way, lending the film extra eeriness.-Michael Shawn
In the late seventies Carter Lord and his partner, artist/scriptwriter Charne Porter set out to bring to life an idea of a world existing between two worlds found in the swamps of Florida. This self-funded film didn't make much hay when it was released in 1984 and disappeared after a brief theatrical run. Thankfully, Severin Films recently restored this picture saving it from absolute obscurity.
We are stoked to have Carter Lord (who spins a damn good yarn) and cast member Michael Garcia join us on March 22nd at 7p.m. for the Tampa premiere of The Enchanted.
